Jacks or Better Rules: Get To Know Them!

As you can probably already tell, there are many different versions of poker that is played all over the world. It is very hard to keep up with all of the rules for each version of the game, but for Jacks or Better poke games, the rules are simple! We will go through each and every rule below and as long as you keep these in mind, you should have absolutely no problems!

The first rule is that the player will need to have a pair of jacks or better in order to open. If the situation happens that no one can open, the dealer button is passed to another player and the game is redealt and all the players bet again. This process is repeated over and over as the limit of bets has not been reached.

The next rule is that if any player opens up the round with false cards, that player’s hand is declared dead and any of the other players can now open. Although, the opening bet from the player with the dead hand will remain in the pot. Keep in mind though, that if no player declares the pot to be open, all the players bets will be returned with the exception of a false opening bet.

This rule is one that is very important: the player who declares the pot to be open, has to show his/her opening cards in order to win the pot. If they do not show their cards, unfortunately they don’t get the pot! That is something to remember.

Let’s say that the opening player has a bad hand but they have raised and that bet has been called by two other players before the draw is completed, the pot will then be played. Also, the opening player can not withdraw any of their bets with any action has been committed prior to the draw, this holds true whether they have any openers in their hand or not.

The opener is definitely the person that has to flash his/her cards whenever anyone requests it, so if you are the opener, you better be able to show your hand if requested before you take over the pot.

So that is most of the rules for jacks or better poker! Now that you know the basics, it is super easy to get involved with the game and earn yourself some money. Just keep a few of these points in mind and you should have no problems!
